FORT WORTH, Texas – Fort Worth police recently released body camera footage shedding light on a robbery suspect who was shot by an officer earlier this month. The incident occurred on Jan. 7 in the 3200 block of Fargo Court after officers responded to a robbery at a 24-hour vape shop in the 6400 block of McCart Avenue near Altamesa Boulevard.
Surveillance footage from the store captured the suspect, identified as Walker Cadd, 37, entering the store armed with a crowbar, prompting a store employee to call 911 for assistance. When the officers arrived, Cadd fled into an open field behind the shopping center and was later found hiding in the backyard of a nearby home.
The confrontation escalated when Cadd refused to comply with the officer’s orders, leading to a physical altercation that resulted in the officer firing two shots, one of which struck Cadd in the leg. The suspect received medical treatment and was later booked into the Tarrant County Jail on theft and attempted weapon theft charges.
The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on significant event leave while the incident is under review, according to Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes. No injuries were reported among the vape shop employees or the officers at the scene.
Noakes emphasized the impact of officer-involved shootings on the community and emphasized the department’s commitment to addressing any concerns or issues arising from such encounters through appropriate channels.
