San Antonio, Texas — In a poignant gathering at Kenwood Park this month, friends and family commemorated what would have been the six-month milestone of baby Fabian, tragically never born due to the violent deaths of his parents, Savanah Soto and Mathew Guerra. Their lives were harshly taken at a northwest-side apartment complex parking lot last December, devastating the community and their families awaiting the arrival of the new member.
Baby Fabian, whose arrival was highly anticipated, was celebrated posthumously with gifts and outfits that had been prepared by loved ones months before his expected birth. The gathering reflected not only the sorrow of an unimaginable loss but also the community’s solidarity in remembering the lives that touched theirs.
The brutal incident was uncovered following the disappearance of Soto, who was 18 and pregnant, leading to a CLEAR Alert being issued on Christmas. She had missed a medical appointment scheduled for induction on December 24. Guerra, aged 22, was also reported missing shortly thereafter. The couple’s bodies were discovered the following day, prompting an immediate investigation into their deaths.
Authorities arrested 19-year-old Christopher Preciado on charges of capital murder in relation to the deaths of Soto, Guerra, and their unborn son, Fabian. The charges extended to the abuse of a corpse and altering, destroying, or concealing a corpse. Accomplice charges have been leveled at Christopher’s father, Ramon Preciado, who is alleged to have assisted in concealing the bodies of the slain couple.
Ramon’s original bail set at $600,000 was later adjusted down to $450,000 for one of the charges, after a judge approved a motion to reduce it in February.
Further entangling the Preciado family in the case, Myrta Romanos, married to Ramon, was apprehended a week after the father-son duo. She faces accusations of aiding in discarding evidence related to the killings. Her charges mirror those of Ramon’s but include an additional charge of tampering with evidence.
As the legal proceedings continue, the community alongside the Guerra family grapples with grief and incredulity. Gabriel Guerra, Mathew’s father, expressed the profound loss felt by all, underscoring the collective excitement and preparation to welcome Fabian.
