PHILADELPHIA, PA – The search is still ongoing for 4-year-old Damari Carter, who is presumed dead in Philadelphia. Police are searching for more evidence to find the young boy and his mother, Dominique Bailey, and her boyfriend, Kevin Spencer, are facing several charges in connection with his disappearance. The investigation began on December 30 after family members reported not seeing Carter for weeks.
Bailey initially told the family that the 4-year-old had been struck and killed by a car, but police found no evidence of this incident. On January 5, however, she provided information about her involvement in the death of her son. Sources tell Action News that investigators believe Carter was beaten to death. In a video, officers can be seen carrying out bags of evidence collected at the scene of Spencer’s house.
Carter’s family spoke with Action News, expressing devastation over the incident and how anyone could put their hands on him. According to Carter’s cousin, “It broke my heart.” His aunt described him as an innocent sweetheart and expressed heartbreak over the senseless incident. She wants more than anything to know where he is for closure and so she can give him a funeral.
Police have been searching extensively for Carter, but unfortunately, they have not found anything in connection to the child. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.
