TENINO, WA – Police have made a grim discovery in the search for Marcia Norman, an 82-year-old woman who was last seen in early April. Norman vanished after reportedly having dinner with a family acquaintance, 47-year-old handyman Jeffrey Zizz, on the evening of April 1. Her family reported her missing several days later, prompting an extensive investigation.
The search took a dark turn when police, upon arriving at Norman’s Tenino residence, found signs suggesting she had left in an unexpected hurry.
Meanwhile, Zizz, who had also disappeared, had reportedly fled the state, borrowing a friend’s vehicle. He was located and taken into custody on April 6 due to an unrelated sentencing violation concerning a child molestation charge.
Complicating the case were suspicions surrounding Zizz’s activities after Norman went missing. Witnesses claimed he had constructed a shed on a property in nearby Olympia the day following her disappearance. This prompted a further probe by detectives from the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
On April 9, investigators searched beneath the newly built shed, uncovering human remains encased in concrete. Officials confirmed the remains belonged to Norman after a thorough identification process. The discovery has cast a spotlight on Zizz, who has since been labeled a person of interest in Norman’s disappearance and death.
Following his arrest in Montana, Zizz was returned to Washington, where he is currently being held without bail on the existing sentencing violation. Despite the mounting evidence tying Zizz to the case, no charges have been filed against him concerning Norman’s death.
Lieutenant Mike Brooks stated that the relationship between Norman and Zizz went beyond that of a typical handyman-client interaction, noting that Zizz was considered a trusted family friend. This connection has puzzled investigators as they continue to piece together the events leading to Norman’s tragic demise.
