Shooting in Port St. John: Boyfriend Charged with Premeditated Murder After Girlfriend’s Death

PORT ST. JOHN, Fla. — Authorities have launched an investigation into a shooting incident that resulted in the death of a 28-year-old woman over the weekend. The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene shortly after noon on Sunday, finding Lendzi Lakeman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man identified as Lakeman’s boyfriend has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder in connection with her death. During a court hearing on Monday, a judge denied bond for the suspect, whose name has been disclosed as Bellinger. He is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail.

Law enforcement officials arrived at the intersection of Curtis Boulevard and Carlowe Avenue, where they discovered Lakeman’s body. Following initial investigations, Bellinger emerged as a suspect, and authorities located him at a relative’s residence. He was taken into custody without any incidents.

While investigators believe the shooting was an isolated event, they are still piecing together the circumstances leading up to the tragedy. A motive remains unclear, and officials noted that Bellinger has not been cooperative during questioning.

Sheriff’s officials stressed that there is no threat to the community following this incident. However, they are appealing to the public for assistance in gathering more information about the case.

Bellinger’s next court appearance is set for December 11 at 8 a.m., where he will face the charges. The case has drawn attention and concerns from residents in the area, highlighting the urgency for closure for both the victim’s family and the community.

As the investigation unfolds, the sheriff’s office is committed to uncovering the reasons behind this tragic event while ensuring the safety of the Port St. John community.
