San Marcos, CA — A 19-year-old man faces charges following his arrest in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy at a San Marcos strip mall last May. The suspect, Adrian Francisco Ramirez, was detained by federal authorities near the San Ysidro Port of Entry last Friday.
Isaac Shekhayem, also of San Marcos, lost his life after sustaining a head gunshot wound during a late-night gathering with friends in a shopping center parking lot. The tragedy struck just before 11:30 p.m. on May 15, in the 900 block of Los Vallecitos Boulevard.
Investigators reported that the victim and a group of acquaintances were approached by a vehicle. An individual, alleged to be Ramirez, exited, discharged a firearm, and subsequently fled the scene.
Following the shooting, one of the victim’s friends rushed him to Palomar Medical Center, where he was soon after pronounced dead. The medical intervention was urgent but ultimately futile.
