McCarthy Calls An End To Proxy Voting

As Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has ended proxy voting. The practice of voting by proxy was initially used out of fear over the spread of COVID-19. McCarthy had mentioned that he planned to end the price before he was awarded the gavel.

McCarthy tweeted on Thursday morning, no more voting via proxy. McCarthy stated that starting today, if you want your vote to count, you have to show up to work.

McCarthy Calls Omnibus A Stain That Has Failed The American People

After passing the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending measure on Friday, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy called it a “stain” on Congress. Currently, the United States owes more than $31 trillion. The bill increased government spending and failed to account for inflation. The President signed the bill making it official.
