ARLINGTON, TX – A quiet Arlington neighborhood turned into the scene of a terrifying ordeal late Tuesday night, as authorities say a man tracked down his ex-girlfriend, violently confronted her new boyfriend, and abducted her at gunpoint before being captured miles away.
Police allege that Aaron Webb, 25, would not let the end of his relationship keep him away. Investigators say his determination turned dangerous as he followed his former girlfriend across state lines after she moved to escape him. For weeks, he reportedly bombarded her with messages and calls, but on Tuesday night, the digital harassment escalated into a harrowing act of violence.
Just after 11 p.m., five people—Webb’s ex-girlfriend, her new boyfriend, another woman, and two children—were gathered inside an apartment on Forest Hills Drive. According to police, Webb forced his way inside, armed and furious.
Within moments, officers believe Webb fired on his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend, a 29-year-old man. The man collapsed outside an apartment on Park Willow Lane, a short walk away, struggling with a gunshot wound. Police would soon find him conscious and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where medical staff listed him in stable condition with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The chaos inside the apartment left the other occupants in fear for their lives. Acting quickly, the second woman and two children managed to escape through a back window and disappear into the night, seeking safety as Webb forced his ex-girlfriend into his vehicle against her will.
Witnesses provided crucial information to responding officers, describing the vehicle Webb used to flee. Their accounts, coupled with surveillance technology, enabled police to track the car into neighboring Fort Worth.
It didn’t take long for authorities to converge on Webb’s location. Officers quickly rescued the abducted woman, who suffered facial injuries allegedly sustained at Webb’s hands during the abduction. After medical assessment, authorities determined that while shaken, her injuries were not severe.
Webb was apprehended without further violence and booked into the Arlington jail early Wednesday morning. In addition to the assault and abduction, police recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the crimes.
Webb now faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, aggravated kidnapping, burglary with intent to assault, and stalking, among others.
Those who witnessed the chaotic scene say they remain shaken, but neighbors have come together to offer support to the victims. The investigation remains ongoing, with no date yet set for Webb’s initial court appearance.
