NASHUA, N.H. — A local man was shot and killed at the Sky Meadow Country Club while dining with his family, according to his mother, who detailed the tragic turn of events that unfolded during their meal.
Rob DeCesare, 59, was reportedly trying to protect his wife and daughter when gunfire erupted on Saturday night. His mother, Evie O’Rourke, recounted how her son reacted to the situation. “He saw what was coming and turned around. He went for him because his wife and daughter would have been next,” she said, describing her son’s brave instinct to safeguard his family.
DeCesare was at dinner with his loved ones when the shooting occurred. O’Rourke shared that he had been eagerly anticipating his daughter’s wedding, scheduled for November. “It’s hard to believe he’s gone. At first, I thought, ‘That can’t be my son.’ Denial took over. It’s shocking,” she added.
In addition to DeCesare, two others were injured during the incident, including one individual who was also struck by the gunfire inside the restaurant. Several patrons also reported minor injuries, illustrating the chaos of the scene. Law enforcement arrested 23-year-old Hunter Nadeau, who worked at the country club in the past, charging him with second-degree murder.
The family is now grappling with their loss but is leaning on their faith to navigate the immense grief. “It can happen to anybody. Life is precious,” O’Rourke reflected. “My faith is strong, and I know I will see him again. That’s our only hope.”
DeCesare leaves behind his wife, three children, and a large extended family, all mourning the loss of a cherished figure. The community is left to remember him not only for the tragic circumstances of his death but also for the love he shared with his family and friends.
