Tragedy in South Delhi: Young Woman Stabbed to Death, Suspected Friend on the Run

NEW DELHI — A 25-year-old woman was discovered dead in her apartment on Tuesday, the victim of a brutal stabbing, prompting authorities to search for a male companion believed to be involved in the attack. The incident took place in Kotla Mubarakpur, a neighborhood in south Delhi.

The victim, identified as Sakshi, had reportedly been living in her rented flat for a year while working at a private firm in Okhla. Police received a distress call around 9:19 PM, leading them to respond to a concerning situation reported by the victim’s landlord and his parents, who heard disturbing noises emanating from Sakshi’s room.

Upon arrival, officers found the main door to her apartment locked from the outside. After forcing entry into the unit, they discovered her body on the floor, bearing multiple stab wounds. Evidence at the scene suggested that a confrontation had transpired prior to her death.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was in the company of a male friend, and an argument ensued, which escalated to violence,” a senior police official stated. Authorities believe the male companion fled the scene immediately after the attack and is currently at large.

In response to the situation, a forensic team, along with crime scene investigators, arrived to gather evidence and examine the premises. Police are actively reviewing nearby CCTV footage in hopes of tracking the suspect’s movements before and after the incident.

A murder case has been filed under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, prompting an intensive manhunt to locate the suspect. This incident underscores growing concerns about personal safety in urban areas, as violent crimes have raised alarms among residents and officials alike.

In a city where such events have become far too common, Sakshi’s tragic death serves as another reminder of the urgent need for effective measures to enhance safety and address the underlying issues surrounding violence. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
