Tragedy Strikes Israel: Iranian Missile Assault Claims 24 Lives, Leaves Hundreds Injured

Bnei Brak, Israel — A wave of Iranian missile attacks targeted civilian areas in Israel overnight, resulting in the deaths of at least eight people, including a 75-year-old man from Bnei Brak. This incident marked a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions in the region, bringing the total death toll from Operation Rising Lion to 24, while injuring 592 others.

Among the confirmed fatalities are Michael Nachum, 61, and Meir Waknin, 56, both residents of Bat Yam. Rescue operations continued into the morning, with authorities fearing that more victims could still be trapped under the rubble. During these operations, emergency crews discovered bodies scattered across the area, including that of a 94-year-old woman, Blina Ashkenazi, whose family members sustained injuries and remain hospitalized.

The community in Bat Yam has been particularly affected, with additional casualties including individuals ranging in age from children to seniors, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the missile strikes. Rescuers described a scene of “significant destruction,” with extensive damage to buildings and numerous casualties emerging from debris.

Emergency services reported that of the nearly 600 injured, ten individuals are in serious condition, with another 36 classified as moderately injured. Among the severely hurt is a young woman who is suffering from critical facial trauma.

The missile attack also struck Petah Tikva, injuring several children who are currently being treated at Schneider Children’s Medical Center. Medical staff confirmed that while one child is in moderate condition, others mainly suffered lighter injuries.

Israeli authorities have ramped up efforts to locate any further victims, as three individuals remain unaccounted for in Haifa. Preliminary reports suggest that property damage in the region also includes the home of Knesset member Hanoch Milwidsky, although no injuries were reported among his family.

This attack underscores the escalating violence in the area, with civilian safety increasingly at risk as military conflicts continue. Observers note that such missile strikes deliberately aim for populated districts, raising concerns about the humanitarian implications of the conflict.

Efforts to respond to the recent tragedies are ongoing, with support from medical teams and community services focused on aiding the injured and mourning the loss of those who have died. As emergency services dig through rubble and debris, the nation collectively grapples with the ramifications of this violent outburst.
