Madison, Wis. — A tragic incident unfolded at a private Christian school in Madison on Monday morning, leaving a teacher and a teenage student dead. The shooter, a 15-year-old female student of Abundant Life Christian School, also died at the scene from a gunshot wound believed to be self-inflicted.
According to police reports, the distressing series of events began with a 911 call from a young second-grader at approximately 10:57 a.m. Authorities arrived promptly to find the alleged shooter already mortally wounded. Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes provided details at a press conference Monday night, mentioning that six other students and a teacher were also injured and are currently being treated at local hospitals, with two students in critical condition.
Barnes emphasized that the investigation is ongoing but initially, it appears that there was only one individual responsible for the incident. The shootings reportedly took place during a mixed-grade study hall session, causing immediate panic and lockdown of the school premises.
