Washington, D.C. — On Easter Sunday, a day typically reserved for peaceful celebrations, former U.S. President Donald Trump stirred the pot with a series of provocative statements on his social media platform, Truth Social. His posts, which combined holiday well-wishes with vehement political criticism, targeted a variety of figures and groups including his successor, former President Joe Biden, as well as various left-wing personalities and authorities in the justice system.
In his messages, Trump did not hold back, accusing these individuals and groups of contributing to rising crime rates and compromising national security. His holiday greeting was especially caustic, extending an ironic ‘Happy Easter’ to those he labeled as radical leftists involved in undermining the country by supposedly supporting criminals and ineffective judges and law enforcement officials.
The former president’s fiery rhetoric described what he perceives as a significant threat to the U.S., notably attributing the infiltration of criminals—including gang members and others he deemed dangerous to society—directly to policies implemented under Biden’s administration. Trump referred to Biden as “Sleepy Joe,” a moniker he frequently used during his presidency, and lambasted his immigration policies as disastrous.
Accusations flew thick and fast as Trump claimed that the 2020 Presidential Election was marred by cheating, which resulted in Biden’s victory, whom he termed as the “WORST and most Incompetent President” in the history of the United States. Trump’s post mixed derogatory remarks with bizarre Easter wishes, extending them even to those he claimed had manipulated Biden’s actions from behind the scenes.
Amidst the controversy stirred by these accusations, Trump also made time for a more traditional Easter message, sharing a post in which he and his wife, Melania, wished everyone a peaceful and joyous celebration of Easter. He emphasized unity and the religious significance of the day, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Previously during an Easter prayer service, Trump had painted a more hopeful and celebratory picture, noting the unique potential of the holiday to signify renewal and hope for the nation. He even hinted at ongoing efforts that he believed had not been seen in the U.S. for a long time, promising that with divine assistance, the country could overcome any adversity.
Trump’s use of the slogan, “Make America Great Again,” reiterated his ongoing campaign to stir support amongst his base by advocating a return to what he considers the fundamental values and strengths of the nation. His remarks, intertwining spiritual messages with political rallying cries, underscore his continued influence on the political landscape and his unrelenting approach to criticism of his adversaries.
