BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — A tragic incident unfolded Monday afternoon at a local business, where two brothers were shot and killed in a confrontation linked to a significant fraud investigation. The victims, Charles Geragi, 67, and Richard Geragi, 72, both residents of Delray Beach, were discovered in an office within All-American Farms Inc. shortly after 4 p.m.
Authorities identified the alleged shooter as 39-year-old Nesar Dawla, a West Palm Beach resident. In a distressing turn of events, Dawla later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a brief police chase.
According to police reports, Charles Geragi had scheduled a meeting with Dawla to discuss the return of funds related to a fraud case involving Dawla’s brother, Sadman Dawla. During the meeting, tensions escalated when Nesar Dawla brandished a firearm and opened fire on the Geragis, fatally wounding both men.
This violent episode is tied to a fraud case against Sadman Dawla, who was convicted of defrauding victims out of more than $5 million in 2024. His fraudulent activities resulted in multiple felony charges, highlighting a troubling history of deception. Nesar Dawla was also implicated in these crimes, but investigators previously lacked sufficient evidence to charge him.
Witnesses reported that Nesar Dawla fled the scene in a white Cadillac SUV. Law enforcement officers pursued him shortly after the shooting, locating the vehicle around 4:40 p.m. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Dawla refused to pull over, leading to a short chase.
The pursuit ended dramatically when police observed Dawla shoot himself as his vehicle came to a stop near Leisureville Boulevard. Responding SWAT teams discovered him inside the vehicle, where he succumbed to his injuries.
In response to the unfolding situation, nearby schools and businesses were placed on lockdown to ensure public safety, despite the incident occurring away from school grounds.
An active investigation is ongoing, with authorities encouraging anyone with information to contact local law enforcement. This tragic event serves as a grim reminder of the cost of crime and the far-reaching consequences it can have on families and communities.
