Charlotte, N.C. — A shooting near a popular bar in west Charlotte early Sunday morning has left one person dead, marking the fourth homicide in less than 24 hours that city police are investigating. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed the incident occurred shortly after 1 a.m. near Coyote Joe’s on Wilkinson Boulevard.
The string of violent incidents began Saturday morning with the death of a man following a confrontation at a residence in east Charlotte around 2 a.m. As the day progressed, police responded to two more deadly shootings in north Charlotte. One took place on North Graham Street while the other occurred on Park Fairfax Drive in the northwest part of the city.
In the latest case, officers were on duty when they heard gunfire in the parking lot of Coyote Joe’s. Upon investigation, they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
