Woman who stabbed her own mother and daughter says she was getting even because they ruined her life

SPOKANE VALLEY, WA – A local woman faces serious charges after allegedly stabbing her daughter and mother in a violent attack that police say stemmed from a desire to “get even” for perceived grievances.

Teri Suiter, 43, appeared in court following her arrest by Spokane Valley Police on Monday, during which officers reportedly used a stun gun to subdue her when she threatened self-harm. Authorities allege that Suiter’s violent spree began with an attack on her adult daughter, followed by an assault on her own mother.

According to court documents, Suiter’s daughter, who was present in her bedroom with her child at the time, was the first target. Suiter reportedly entered the room and attacked her daughter with a knife. In the chaotic aftermath, while attempting to shield her child, the daughter was stabbed multiple times.

The daughter managed to expel Suiter from the room, only to discover that her mother had been wounded as well. The affidavit further describes the disturbing scene wherein Suiter allegedly pushed her mother down the stairs and continued the assault with a knife. Suiter’s daughter reportedly intervened, using a baby gate to fend off the attack on her grandmother.

Court records reveal that Suiter’s mother allegedly heard her daughter express a desire for revenge during the attack, accusing her family of damaging her life. When law enforcement arrived, Suiter purportedly still had the weapon and resisted orders to disarm, resulting in the use of a Taser by the deputies.

Both victims, Suiter’s mother and daughter, received hospital treatment for serious injuries that were not life-threatening. They indicated to police that the attacks were unprovoked, adding to the unsettling nature of the incident.

In the courtroom, a spokesperson for the victims voiced ongoing safety concerns, stressing the severity of the situation. “This is not a sane woman,” the spokesperson read. “She has stated she wants me dead. Her capability for violence is not in question, and we urge the highest charges possible.”

Suiter now faces two counts of assault, with her bail set at $500,000. She remains in custody pending her next court appearance, scheduled for May 6.

As the legal proceedings continue, the community is left grappling with the shocking incident that unfolded in an otherwise quiet neighborhood, questioning how such a familial conflict could escalate to violence.
