SACRAMENTO, California – The community is grieving after a tragic shooting left a 10-year-old boy dead at the hands of another 10-year-old. The incident occurred on Saturday evening in the Foothill Farms area of Sacramento.
Keith Frierson, 10, was riding his new Christmas bike when he was fatally shot. His godmother, Nina Trepagnier, described him as a beloved son, brother, and friend known for his sense of humor and gentle nature.
The shooting took place in the presence of Keith’s six-year-old friend, with no apparent altercation leading up to the tragic event. The suspected shooter, another 10-year-old boy, allegedly obtained the gun from his father’s car, who is a convicted felon and not legally allowed to own firearms. The gun used in the shooting was also reported stolen.
As the community grapples with the senseless tragedy, authorities arrested the 10-year-old shooter and his father. The shooter was booked into the Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility on a murder charge, while his father faces firearm-related charges, child endangerment, and accessory after the fact. Keith’s family, already coping with the loss of their father one year prior, is devastated by the tragedy.
