10-Year-Old Fatally Shot Over Bicycle Race in California: Mother’s Grief Over Son’s Death

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A California mother is devastated after her 10-year-old son was fatally shot by another 10-year-old following a dispute over a bicycle race. The tragic incident occurred in Foothill Farms, a community located just 16 miles northeast of Sacramento.

Keith “KJ” Frierson was playing with friends near his home when the shooting took place. His mother, Brittani Frierson, expressed her anguish at a vigil held in his honor, stating that her son’s life was taken while he was enjoying a race with his friends on his new bike.

According to reports, the alleged shooter became upset after losing the bike race and resorted to opening fire, resulting in Keith’s tragic death. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a 10-year-old boy and his father were arrested in connection to the shooting. Investigators stated that the child retrieved the gun from his father’s vehicle and shot Keith before seeking to conceal the weapon.

The father, Arkete Davis, 53, faces multiple charges including possession of a firearm by a felon, child endangerment, and acting as an accessory to a crime. Davis is scheduled to appear in court, but it remains unclear if he has legal representation or has entered a plea.

The recovered firearm was reported stolen in 2017, further complicating the case. As the investigation unfolds, the identity of Davis’ son has not been disclosed.

The tragic loss of young Keith Frierson has sparked an outpouring of grief and demands for justice as the community grapples with the heartbreaking consequences of a senseless act of violence.
