Police responded to calls of a disturbance late Saturday evening, which escalated when Fletcher leaped from a second-story window of the building. Inside, officers discovered the bodies of 19-year-old Hailey Miller and Fletcher’s 2-year-old son, both having suffered fatal stab wounds.

Fletcher was apprehended and, following hospital treatment, remains in custody with bail set at $3 million. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 13 to face the charges.

As of yet, authorities have not disclosed a motive for the killings. The tragic event has left the community grappling with shock and grief, while a GoFundMe campaign established to support Miller’s funeral costs and aid her surviving son has rapidly garnered more than $20,000. The fundraising page described Miller as a dedicated mother and hard-working student who was committed to creating a bright future for her child.

The identity of the young child has not been publicly released by authorities, though it has been confirmed he was Fletcher’s biological son. Neighbors recalling the harrowing night described hearing desperate cries and sensing the gravity of the situation as it unfolded.

“The entire scene was heart-wrenching,” a resident shared, recalling the valiant yet futile efforts to understand the commotion. Neighbors expressed disbelief and despair over the fact that such a horrific act could occur to a young mother and her child.

Miller was characterized by those who knew her as having an indomitable spirit and an unwavering devotion to her young son, attributes that made her beloved in her circle. Her loss has deeply resonated not only because of the personal relationships but due to the abrupt and violent nature of the crime.
