21-year-old Texas woman shot in the head by husband then her tiny kids find her body and ask for help

FORT WORTH, TX – A 29-year-old man is in custody following accusations that he fatally shot his wife and left their two children to discover her body at a Fort Worth home over Labor Day weekend, authorities said.

Josue Rodas was arrested and charged with murder in connection to the death of 21-year-old Glenda Maria Aguilera Rubio. County records indicate Rodas is being held in the Tarrant County Corrections Center with his bail set at $500,000.

According to investigators, Rodas and Rubio arrived at a residence on Yeager Street on August 27, bringing their children with them after a reported dispute with other relatives at their previous address. An arrest affidavit stated the family had planned to stay at the new location briefly before relocating out of state.

The home, located in a quiet Fort Worth neighborhood, was shared by a mother and her son as well as another boarder. Authorities said Rodas had allegedly threatened family members with a firearm during the earlier altercation that prompted their move.

On the night before the killing, witnesses observed Rodas and Rubio drinking with one of the adults living in the home. That person reportedly went to bed around 11 p.m., and another resident returned around midnight to find the couple still awake and drinking. This resident also went to sleep soon after.

The next morning, the couple’s children approached one of the residents with a disturbing message, saying their mother was bleeding. The resident went to check on Rubio and found her unresponsive in the kitchen area, suffering from visible wounds.

Police say the front door of the house had been left open. Upon further inspection, it was discovered that Rubio’s vehicle—a 2013 Toyota Corolla with Mississippi tags—was missing from the property. Surveillance footage from the area later showed a car matching that description leaving the neighborhood around 4 a.m.

Officers from the Fort Worth Police Department responded to the scene around 7:15 a.m. and located Rubio, who was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Investigators determined she had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

As Fort Worth authorities pursued their search for Rodas, detectives received word that Sweetwater Police, located roughly three hours away, had encountered him at a local gas station. Rodas contacted authorities himself, reportedly stating he was involved in a homicide in Fort Worth but provided no additional details.

Rodas was subsequently taken into custody and appeared at the county jail on Tuesday. Details regarding his next court appearance remain undetermined.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case. The welfare of the couple’s two children, who were present in the home at the time of the alleged murder, is also being addressed by local authorities.
