RUTLAND, OH – An Amish man from the tight-knit community in Ohio faces serious charges following the death of his neighbor. Samuel Hochstetler was apprehended on Monday for allegedly taking the life of Rosanna Kinsinger, a fellow member of the community, nearly a month after her suspicious death raised alarms among local law enforcement.
Authorities revealed that Kinsinger, 28, was found lifeless in her home alongside her goat on March 13. The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office responded to the distress call concerning her death in Rutland, a town located about 200 miles south of Cleveland. Upon the discovery of her body, the county coroner deemed the circumstances of her death to be questionable and ordered an autopsy, which ultimately yielded inconclusive results.
Hochstetler was detained for questioning by detectives and subsequently charged with murder following the interview. Details surrounding what prompted the arrest have not been disclosed by authorities. However, Sheriff Scott Fitch expressed the toll Kinsinger’s death has taken on the community, emphasizing that her loss was deeply felt by those who knew her.
Reflecting on the case, Fitch stated, “The tireless work of our detectives has brought answers in this tragic situation. Our thoughts go out to Rosanna’s family, and we hope this development brings some closure.”
The investigation into Kinsinger’s death received support from local residents, including Mose Troyer. Hochstetler had been staying with Troyer since moving from Kentucky prior to the incident and until his arrest.
Troyer was the individual who found Kinsinger deceased, prompting him to call emergency services. He remarked on the shock of discovering that the alleged perpetrator had been living under his roof, heightening the distress within the community.
Sheriff’s detectives executed a thorough investigation, which involved executing search warrants, collecting and analyzing evidence, and interviewing multiple community members. The culmination of these efforts pointed to Hochstetler as a suspect, allowing law enforcement to proceed with the arrest.
The sheriff’s office commended the dedication of investigators and community involvement, highlighting that the collaborative effort was vital in moving the case forward and ultimately connecting Hochstetler to Kinsinger’s death.
