Amazon Delivery Driver Gunned Down While On the Job

KING COUNTY, Wash. – The family of an Amazon delivery driver who was fatally shot while making package drop-offs is demanding answers and accountability from the shooter and the e-commerce giant. Sergey Kubay, a 50-year-old Amazon Flex driver, was found shot in his car on the morning of January 25th in King County, Washington.

Kubay had been working for Amazon Flex for at least four years, using his car as a part-time package delivery vehicle. His brother expressed the need for Amazon to provide full protection to part-time drivers like Sergey, as his wife, who is also a delivery driver, now fears for her safety in the wake of her husband’s tragic death.

The couple had been relying on the income from Amazon to support their children, but now they are left wondering who is looking out for the safety of Flex drivers, who often make deliveries late into the night. Sergey’s brother has called on Amazon to extend their support not just to his brother but to all drivers in a similar position.

Authorities believe Sergey was targeted and it’s unclear why. The family is raising funds to lay him to rest and hoping for anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
