Amazon: Family Demands Accountability after Fatal Shooting of Delivery Driver

KING COUNTY, Wash. – The family of an Amazon delivery driver who was fatally shot while making his rounds is seeking answers and accountability for his death. Sergey Kubay, 50, was an Amazon Flex driver for at least four years before he was found shot in his car, which he used for part-time package deliveries.

His brother has expressed the need for greater protection for part-time drivers like Sergey. His wife, who is also a package delivery driver, now fears for her safety while on the job. The couple relied on their income from Amazon to support their children, but now they are left wondering who is looking out for Flex drivers, who often work late into the night.

“We would like to ask Amazon to step in, not just for Sergey, but for all drivers,” said Kubay.

Sergey was shot while making deliveries at the Fairwood Pond Apartments in King County, following an evening shift on the 24th. Residents reported hearing gunshots around nine o’clock, but no one came to check until the next morning when deputies were called to the scene.

Initial reports indicate that Sergey was likely targeted, although the motive remains unclear. While the family is mourning his loss, they are focused on moving forward and have chosen to start a fundraiser to cover the costs of his funeral. If you have any information about the incident, you’re urged to call the King County Sheriff’s Office at 206-263-2090 or email mcutips@kingcounty.gov.

Sergey’s case is still under investigation, and for now, his family is focused on finding closure and moving forward. They are also raising funds to lay him to rest, and here’s how you can help.

Throughout all of this, Amazon has expressed deep sadness at the tragedy and stated that they are working to support the authorities as they investigate the case. They also reached out to the driver’s family to offer their support during this difficult time. And while the grieving family is not seeking justice, they simply want to find peace and move forward from this tragedy.
