Arrest Made in Apalachin Murder: Husband Charged in Deadly Domestic Dispute

Apalachin, New York – A man has been taken into custody for the alleged murder of his estranged wife in Apalachin. Michael Crandall, 36, has been charged with second-degree murder following a fatal incident during a domestic dispute, as confirmed by the New York State Police.

The police responded to a call reporting a violent disturbance at 10 Debra Lee Drive at around 3:30 a.m. on Monday. Tragically, 33-year-old Chrystal Yaw Crandall succumbed to her injuries sustained during the altercation. Michael Crandall was hospitalized for neck lacerations and was later apprehended upon his release on Friday.

In addition to the murder charge, Crandall is facing three counts of criminal contempt for violating an order of protection instructing him to stay away from the Apalachin residence. Public records indicate that Michael and Chrystal Crandall acquired the property on Debra Lee Drive in February 2023.

Chrystal Crandall, survived by her three children, previously resided in Trumansburg before moving to Apalachin. A memorial service in her honor is scheduled to be held at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home in Trumansburg on Friday.
