Fresno, California – A man has been arrested for the fatal shooting of another man in northwest Fresno over the weekend, police announced Friday. Domonique Jones, 26, has been taken into custody for the death of Gilberto Gutierrez, 38, who tragically lost his life following an altercation outside Ewell’s Place on Shaw and Marks streets early Sunday morning.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 2 am when an argument escalated amongst a group of approximately nine individuals outside the bar. Gutierrez intervened in an attempt to de-escalate the situation between his friends and Jones. Tragically, the conflict turned deadly when Jones brandished a handgun and shot Gutierrez, leaving him critically injured in the parking lot before he succumbed to his wounds at the hospital.
