Arrested Ontario Student Found with Cache of Weapons and Ammunition, Facing Attempted Murder Charges

ONTARIO, Calif. – Authorities have arrested an 18-year-old high school student who was allegedly planning a shooting at his school, leading to attempted murder charges. Sebastian Villasenor, a student at Ontario Christian High School, was taken into custody after a fellow student reported concerns about his fixation on school shootings and access to weapons, according to Ontario Police Chief Michael Lorenz.

During a news conference, Chief Lorenz stated that Villasenor had “every intention” of carrying out a shooting at the school, as revealed by the investigation. The student was reportedly obsessed with school shootings and police response times, and had been researching tactical supplies.

When Villasenor was arrested, authorities found seven rifles, two revolvers, one handgun, and one shotgun at his home, along with more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition. The weapons were legally owned by the suspect’s parents, according to the police.

Police also revealed that Villasenor had identified at least five specific students he wanted to target, and his motive remains unclear. Investigators believe he may have been planning a shooting around April 20, the anniversary of the 1999 attack at Columbine High School.

The student who reported Villasenor’s intentions was praised by Chief Lorenz, who referred to the individual as a hero for potentially saving lives and preventing a devastating act of violence. School officials expressed gratitude to both law enforcement and the student who came forward with the information that led to the arrest.

It was emphasized that there is no additional threat to students or staff at the school. Villasenor is facing five felony charges of attempted murder and one felony charge of attempted criminal threats.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of speaking up when potential threats are identified, as it can prevent harm and save lives in the process. The vigilance of students and the swift action of law enforcement have been credited with averting a tragedy.
