Arrested: Pilot Facing Manslaughter Charge After Fatal 2019 Plane Crash Apprehended in Washington County Traffic Stop

ST. GEORGE, Utah – A man facing federal manslaughter charges in connection with a 2019 plane crash in Arizona has been arrested in Washington County, Utah.

Christopher Adam Anderson, a 47-year-old from Arizona, was apprehended by the Utah Highway Patrol during a traffic stop on southbound I-15 near Exit 10 in Washington County. According to authorities, Anderson has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and registration violations involving aircraft.

The arrest came after Anderson was initially stopped near the Browse Exit but was released following a background check. However, a warrant emerged on the national crime database several minutes later, prompting law enforcement to request assistance to stop Anderson as he was heading south toward Arizona.

The federal warrant for Anderson was issued out of the U.S. District Court in Arizona. He faces one count of involuntary manslaughter within an aircraft jurisdiction and one count of registration violations involving aircraft, according to the arrest warrant released Monday.

The arrest follows the 2019 plane crash in Mohave County, Arizona, which left one passenger dead. Anderson’s apprehension took place on Sunday, during a traffic stop on Interstate 15. Authorities from the Washington Police Department and Washington County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the arrest.

The details of the plane crash and Anderson’s alleged involvement have not yet been made public. However, his arrest in Utah indicates that the legal proceedings surrounding the incident are progressing.
