Assault at Corner Brook Intermediate School: Two Youth Charged for Alleged Incident

CORNER BROOK, N.L. – Two youths face charges after an alleged assault on another youth at Corner Brook Intermediate School on Feb. 1. Patrol officers from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary were called to the school after a disturbance was reported just after 9:30 a.m. The victim, a male youth, received medical care from paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries before being taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

As a result of the incident, one male youth has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, while a female youth has been charged with assault as well. Both accused individuals have been released and are scheduled to appear in provincial court at a later date.

The assault took place inside the school, according to the RNC. Const. James Cadigan, the RNC’s media relations and public communication officer, stated that it’s not confirmed if all involved youths were students at Corner Brook Intermediate. While the existence of video surveillance footage of the incident was not confirmed, Cadigan assured that the matter will be thoroughly investigated.
