Attack at Osino Presby Senior High Technical School Sparks Heavy Police Presence and Threatens Temporary Shutdown

Osino, Eastern Region, Ghana – Following a violent attack at Osino Presby Senior High Technical students (SHTS) on Monday that resulted in a fatality, the school is now under heavy police deployment. The Fanteakwa South District Security Council (DISEC) has taken this action to restore peace and order in the area and ensure the safety of residents.

There are considerations by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and DISEC to temporarily shut down the school, as reported by Starr FM. The incident that sparked this response occurred when a student from Nsutam Senior High Technical School was passing through Osino SHS and was accosted by some students in a renewed feud.

Reports indicate that the culprits assaulted the victim and seized his belongings, including GHC10. In response to the incident, the PRO of Nsuapemso, a mining firm, Kwadwo Isaac, along with a teacher, visited the OSSEC campus to address the issue. However, the visit resulted in the irate OSSEC students pelting them with stones and sticks, causing them to flee the scene, leaving their car behind.

Subsequently, the students reportedly vandalized the vehicle and set it ablaze. The deceased victim’s body has been transported to the Police Hospital in Accra for autopsy as investigations continue.

The presence of heavy police deployment at the school indicates the seriousness of the situation and the authorities’ commitment to restoring peace and order. The incident has caused alarm and concern among residents and the education community, prompting discussions of temporarily shutting down the school.

This violent attack has raised questions about the safety and security of students in the area and the need for swift and effective interventions to prevent future incidents. The ongoing investigation will shed light on the circumstances surrounding the attack and help determine the appropriate measures to be taken to ensure the safety of students and residents in the community.
