WASHINGTON – Police in the District reported that a man was shot by a gunman even after he complied with demands to turn over his belongings during an armed robbery on Saturday night. The incident occurred in the 900 block of 12th Street at 9 p.m.
According to investigators, the victim was walking on U Street when two suspects approached him and demanded his belongings. Despite the victim’s compliance, one of the suspects shot him before both fled the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Surveillance images of the suspects have been released by the police and anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities. A reward of $10,000 is being offered in the case.
The shooting comes as part of a recent surge in gun violence in the district. Just last weekend, seven shootings were reported within 24 hours, resulting in one fatality and eight injuries. The ongoing violence has raised concerns and prompted a heightened sense of urgency for law enforcement in the area.
This latest incident serves as a reminder of the need for community involvement and cooperation with law enforcement to help prevent and solve such crimes. The District residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
