Boiler Explosion in Jaipur Chemical Factory Kills Five Laborers and Injures Two – Investigation Underway

Jaipur, India – A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday evening in Jaipur’s Bassi, where a boiler exploded in a chemical factory, resulting in the deaths of at least five laborers and leaving two others critically injured, according to authorities familiar with the situation.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mukesh Chaudhary reported that the explosion occurred while all seven laborers were on duty. Tragically, five of them lost their lives instantly, while the two injured individuals were rushed to Sawai Man Singh Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Upon receiving news of the incident, the ACP, local police station team, and Jaipur Collector Prakash Rajpurohit promptly arrived at the scene to assess the situation and provide necessary assistance.

Efforts to extinguish the fire were intense, as around nine fire engines were deployed to the site. It took three hours to finally bring the fire under control, as stated by the ACP, indicating the severity of the incident.

The deceased laborers have been identified as Krishnalal Gurjar, Manohar, Gokul Harijan, and Hiralal, while the injured individuals were identified as Manohar Gurjar and Kaluram, both sustaining significant burn injuries.

Dr. Rakesh Jain, the principal of the SMS burn ward, reported that Manohar sustained 95% burn injuries and is in critical condition in the ICU, while Kaluram suffered 65% burns during the explosion.

As investigations into the cause of the explosion progress, authorities are looking into why the fire extinguisher system was not functioning correctly and why the factory owner is currently missing. Families of the deceased have demanded compensation and job opportunities for the kin affected by this tragic event.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, emphasizing the need for swift relief and rescue operations. He pledged support for those affected and urged for a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances leading to the devastating explosion in the chemical factory in Bassi near Jaipur.
