Bronx Parolee Arrested for Brutal Elevator Stabbing of 75-Year-Old Woman

Fordham, The Bronx – In a shocking incident, a 75-year-old woman was viciously stabbed in a Bronx elevator by a man who was out on parole at the time of the attack. The victim, Zenona Ramos, endured multiple stab wounds to her hands and head at her apartment building on Morris Ave. on a Sunday morning. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, with the assault appearing to be completely random.

Ramos managed to escape the elevator, covered in blood, and sought help by knocking on neighboring doors until a resident called 911. Despite sustaining serious injuries, including 40 stitches on one hand, she is currently in stable condition at St. Barnabas and is expected to recover. The traumatizing ordeal has left Ramos terrified, even after the physical wounds heal.

The suspect, Edwin Rios, was captured on exclusive video footage calmly leaving the building post-assault. This was not the first time Rios was involved in a violent crime, as he had previously faced charges of attempted murder for a similar attack on a young woman in Queens in 2012.

Ramos’s daughter, Mirian Ramos Garcia, criticized the justice system for allowing Rios to be released on parole despite his prior violent actions. Expressing anger and disbelief, Ramos Garcia questioned why Rios was free to commit another heinous crime.

Describing Rios as a “devil,” Ramos Garcia recounted the chilling words he spoke to her mother before leaving the scene. The family and community are appalled by the senseless violence and are seeking justice for the victim who is now on the path to recovery.

With Rios now facing attempted murder charges in connection to the Bronx attack, the incident has once again ignited discussions on parole regulations and public safety. The community is coming together to support the victim and advocate for stricter measures to prevent such tragedies from reoccurring. In the face of adversity, Ramos and her family are determined to seek justice and ensure that Rios is held accountable for his actions.
