Brothers Discover Gruesome Scene in Brooklyn Bathtub: Stepson Charged with Murder of 3-Year-Old

New York, NY – A tragic incident unfolded in a Brooklyn apartment, leaving a 3-year-old boy named Denim Brown dead. Police have charged Kevin James, the stepson of the boy’s mother, with murder, assault, and acting in a manner injurious to a child in connection to the gruesome crime. The discovery of the child’s body was made by James’ own brothers, who were reportedly the ones to find the lifeless toddler in a bathtub.

According to NYPD Chief of Department Joseph Kenny, Denim’s mother had entrusted him to a 66-year-old neighbor at their residence on New York Ave. in East Flatbush while she went out for dinner. The neighbor had been intermittently caring for Denim for over two years, creating a sense of familiarity and trust within the community. However, tragedy struck when James, the stepson, allegedly took the child to a deserted apartment across the hall, where the fatal incident took place.

Upon realizing the child was missing, James’ brothers initiated a search and ultimately discovered Denim’s lifeless body. Despite efforts to save the boy, medics were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital. James, who had initially left the building but later returned, was arrested by the police. Authorities noted that he displayed signs of disorientation during the arrest.

Although James reportedly has no history of mental illness in the city’s records, past legal troubles include a 2010 arrest for petty larceny and possession of a knife exceeding 4 inches in length. After facing charges in Brooklyn Criminal Court, James was remanded into custody without bail. The tragic death of Denim Brown has sent shockwaves throughout the neighborhood, raising concerns about child safety and the importance of vigilance in caretaking responsibilities.
