Brutal Attack Leaves Partner with Swollen Cheeks, Perpetrator Jailed for 20 Months

Stalking and Assault Leads to Jail Time in Cambridge, UK

A man in Cambridge, UK has been sentenced to one year and eight months in prison for subjecting his partner to a brutal attack. Dannie McGavigan, 43, repeatedly punched his partner in the face and dragged her through the house after she confronted him about messages from another woman in April. The assault left the victim with swollen cheeks.

The victim’s daughter called the police, but McGavigan had already fled the address before officers arrived. He was later arrested and pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm. In addition to the assault, McGavigan was also found guilty of a separate offense of stalking and harassment in another county.

Detective Constable Callum Fullwood said, “McGavigan is clearly a danger to others and I’m pleased he has been brought to justice for this cowardly and violent attack. I hope the conclusion of the court process will bring the victim some closure.”
