Venice, California – A woman’s peaceful stroll along the canals of Venice, California turns into a nightmare as she is brutally attacked by an unknown assailant. Mary Klein, a 54-year-old single mother, nurse, and artist, was left with severe injuries after the terrifying incident that occurred late in the evening on April 6.
According to reports, Mary was ambushed from behind near her home, knocked unconscious, and viciously beaten by the attacker. Recounting the traumatic experience from her hospital bed, Mary described the harrowing ordeal that left her with broken teeth, a wired-shut jaw, fractures, and bruises all over her face and chest.
The assault on Mary was not an isolated incident, as another woman was also attacked along the Venice canals on the same night. The second victim, who remains unidentified, is currently in a coma. The violent nature of the attacks has raised concerns and led to increased patrols by the local authorities in the area.
The perpetrator, identified as Anthony Jones, 29, was apprehended in San Diego following the assaults. Authorities described Jones as a transient and revealed that both attacks had a disturbing “sexual element” to them. Surveillance footage captured Jones near the canals on the night of the attacks, providing crucial evidence in the investigation.
