Vaiden, Mississippi – A violent encounter at a truck stop has led to serious charges against a man with a criminal history. Authorities say Charlie Terrell Jones, 40, is accused of assaulting a clerk and attempting a robbery following a dispute over fuel prices.
The incident unfolded early Monday afternoon at the 35/55 Truck Stop, located on Highway 35. According to deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Jones allegedly became aggressive after a disagreement about gas costs escalated. Witnesses reported that he struck the clerk multiple times.
After the beatdown, Jones reportedly left the store only to return armed with a gun. Officials stated he demanded money from the clerk, who complied in fear for his safety.
