Chilling Messages Unravel Murder Mystery: Bengaluru Doctor Accused of Killing Wife for Rekindling Past Relationships

BENGALURU, India — A doctor accused of murdering his wife is facing serious allegations after investigators uncovered a frightening message he sent to several women weeks following the crime. Dr. Mahendra Reddy G. S., a general surgeon, is alleged to have administered a lethal dose of an anesthetic drug, leading to the death of his wife, Dr. Kruthika M. Reddy, a dermatologist. He was taken into custody in October.

Authorities report that Mahendra used the payment app PhonePe to send a message that read, “I killed my wife for you,” to at least four or five women. Among the recipients was a medical professional who had previously rejected his romantic advances. This disturbing communication surfaced after investigators analyzed data from his confiscated phone and laptop, which was then sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for detailed examination.

According to police, it appears Mahendra may have been trying to reconnect with past relationships after the shocking death of his wife. Investigators are delving into these messages as part of a broader inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Kruthika’s death, which initially seemed to be of natural causes.

Details related to the case reveal that Mahendra allegedly killed Kruthika using Propofol, a powerful anesthetic typically reserved for surgical procedures. The couple, who both worked at Victoria Hospital, married in May 2024. Tragically, Kruthika collapsed at her father’s home in Marathahalli less than a year later, where she had been staying due to ongoing health concerns. Mahendra reportedly visited her and administered intravenous injections over a two-day period while claiming it was necessary for her treatment. She was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Initially, police categorized the case as an Unnatural Death Report, believing Kruthika’s death to be natural. However, Kruthika’s sister, Dr. Nikitha M. Reddy, raised concerns, prompting a more thorough investigation. Six months later, forensic tests confirmed the presence of Propofol in multiple organs, indicating that Kruthika had been poisoned.

Following this revelation, law enforcement reclassified the case as murder under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023. Mahendra was apprehended in Manipal, Udupi district, where he had relocated after the incident.

Further complicating the case is Mahendra’s family’s troubling history, which includes several criminal offenses. His twin brother, Dr. Nagendra Reddy G. S., has faced multiple cheating and criminal allegations since 2018. Additionally, Mahendra and another brother were implicated in a threat case earlier this year. Kruthika’s family claims they were unaware of this troubling background when the couple married.

As the investigation continues, the chilling texts and the medical circumstances surrounding this tragic case have drawn public attention, highlighting the need for deeper scrutiny in relationships marked by unexpected violence.
