The deceased have been identified as Chloe McGee, 23, Shay Duffy, 21, both from Carrickmacross; Alan McCluskey and Dylan Commins, both 23 from Drumconrath; and Chloe Hipson, 21, from Lanarkshire, Scotland. All five were traveling in a Volkswagen Golf when the crash took place. A sixth passenger, also in his twenties, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is currently hospitalized.
Two individuals in another vehicle involved in the collision, a Toyota Land Cruiser, are recovering from injuries that are not life-threatening. Local law enforcement, An Garda Síochána, is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and has appealed to witnesses to come forward.
