Conspiracy: New Netflix Docuseries ‘The Octopus Murders’ Delves into 20th-Century Mysteries

LOS ANGELES, CA – Netflix’s latest crime docuseries is set to uncover a mysterious conspiracy involving a hidden organization known as The Octopus. The streaming service has ordered “American Conspiracy: The Octopus Murders,” which comes from Duplass Brothers Productions and Stardust Frames, the two companies behind Netflix’s hit docuseries “Wild Wild Country,” and will be directed by Zachary Treitz.

The series delves into the suspicious death of journalist Danny Casolaro, who was found in a hotel bathtub. Initially ruled a suicide by the police, his family and colleagues suspect foul play, believing he may have been murdered for investigating a conspiracy he referred to as “The Octopus” – an organization connected to stolen government spy software, unsolved murders, and major political scandals of the 20th century. Years later, researcher Christian Hansen pushes to uncover the secrets behind Casolaro’s death, and the story that led to it.

Scheduled to launch on February 28, the four-part series aims to untangle the mystery surrounding The Octopus. The project boasts a talented lineup of executive producers including Chapman Way, Maclain Way, Juliana Lembi, Mark Duplass, Jay Duplass, Mel Eslyn, and Christian Hansen.

Mark Duplass expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “When we found out about the Octopus Conspiracy, and Zach and Christian’s unique perspective and unparalleled dedication to this story, we knew this was the project that would bring us back together.” Similarly, Stardust Frames’ Maclain Way shared their excitement, highlighting the enthralling nature of the tale and the parallels with a journalist who died under suspicious circumstances while digging into the story.

“American Conspiracy: The Octopus Murders” promises to be a captivating exploration of a complex and intriguing mystery, providing audiences with an in-depth look at The Octopus and its potential involvement in historical events.
