Deadly Small Plane Crash in Clearwater Mobile Home Park Claims Three Lives

CLEARWATER, Fla. – A tragic incident unfolded in a Florida mobile home park as a small plane crashed, claiming the lives of three individuals and causing a devastating blaze, according to Clearwater Police Department.

The crash, which occurred on Thursday evening, resulted in the deaths of one crew member on the plane and two individuals on the ground, as reported by the FAA. The aircraft, identified as a single-piston Beechcraft 35 Bonanza, departed from Vero Beach Regional Airport and was scheduled to land at the small Clearwater Air Park, according to FlightAware.

The pilot had issued an emergency distress call to St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport before the plane vanished from radar, approximately 3 miles north of a runway. Clearwater Fire Chief Scott Ehlers stated that the control tower received a Mayday transmission from the pilot before the aircraft disappeared from radar.

Emergency response teams were swiftly dispatched to the Bayside Waters community, where the devastating crash and resulting fires took place. The impact of the crash was so powerful that it ripped apart a mobile home and caused destruction to surrounding areas, leaving a 72-year-old man narrowly escaping death as the plane tore through his home, leaving him covered in insulation and broken glass.
