Discovery: Amish Man Charged with Murder After Woman’s Body Found Alongside Goat in Ohio Home

POMEROY, Ohio — A man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a woman’s body in a home in eastern Ohio. The investigation began on March 13, when deputies from the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office were called to Dye Road in Rutland amid suspicions regarding the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

The victim, identified as 28-year-old Rosanna Kinsinger, was found deceased in her residence. Authorities initially deemed her death suspicious and sent her body to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. Preliminary findings from the autopsy were inconclusive, prompting further investigation.

As detectives pursued leads, executed search warrants, and conducted interviews, they gathered information that led them to identify Samuel Hochstetler as a person of interest. On Monday, authorities detained Hochstetler for questioning, ultimately resulting in his arrest and subsequent charges of murder.

Sheriff’s officials described Kinsinger as a cherished member of her community, expressing hope that the investigation will help bring closure to her family. “This case was such a tragedy to those who knew Rosanna. She was a beloved individual,” a representative from the sheriff’s office stated, emphasizing the dedicated efforts of the detectives involved.

Mose Troyer, a local resident in the Amish community where both Kinsinger and Hochstetler lived, provided further insight into the case. He revealed that Hochstetler had been residing with him for several months and noted that concern grew in the community when Kinsinger was unaccounted for on the day of her death. Troyer stated he entered Kinsinger’s home that evening and made the grim discovery of her body, alongside her goat, before calling 911.

Troyer’s account reflects the tight-knit nature of the community, where such tragedies have a profound impact. The ongoing investigation has left residents grappling with grief and uncertainty, underlining the importance of continued support for the victim’s family during this painful time.

As the case unfolds, authorities urge anyone with additional information to come forward, highlighting the community’s role in seeking justice for Kinsinger. The sheriff’s office will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses, aiming to ensure that the story surrounding this tragic event is fully uncovered.
