Double Shooting in Jackson: Authorities Investigate Connection Between Two Homicides

JACKSON, Miss. — Authorities are investigating two shootings believed to be connected, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones and Jackson Police Chief Tyree Jones reported the incidents, which took place early Friday morning.

The first shooting occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Donaldson Drive, where 24-year-old Latisha Carter was found dead in the driveway of a residence. Witnesses reported seeing a dark SUV leaving the area around 3 a.m., prompting investigators to look into its possible involvement in the shooting.

While officers were still on-scene at the Donaldson Drive location, a second shooting was reported shortly after 8 a.m. on Revere Street, near McDowell and Terry roads. There, 36-year-old Krishawn Course was located deceased inside a home. A second man was also hospitalized, although his condition remains unclear.

Sheriff Jones stated that there is substantial evidence linking the two shootings. “There is a strong indication that these incidents could be related, but the investigation is ongoing,” he said. Authorities are working diligently to determine a motive and identify those responsible.

Investigators believe that the shooting involving Carter may have been domestic in nature. “There’s a concern given that guns were involved, and we strive to understand the underlying issues,” Sheriff Jones noted.

With these incidents, Jackson now marks a troubling milestone, as they represent the 58th and 59th homicides recorded in the city this year. Community leaders are expressing alarm over the rising violence and are urging residents to come forward with any information.

The police department has encouraged anyone with details about either shooting to contact them directly at 601-960-1234 or reach out to Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477). As investigations continue, the community remains on high alert, hoping for a swift resolution to these violent events.
