Driver Charged with Possession of Second Gun in Fatal Shooting of NYPD Officer

New York City – A career criminal known as “Killa” is facing charges after a tragic incident where NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller was shot during a routine traffic stop in Flatbush. Lindy Jones, 41, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and defacing a weapon in connection with the incident.

The fatal shooting occurred as Diller and other “quality of life” officers were conducting a traffic stop on a double-parked vehicle outside a T-Mobile store. The passenger in the car, 34-year-old Guy Rivera, allegedly opened fire on the officers, striking Diller in the stomach. Diller, a husband and father to a 1-year-old son, tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Prior to Jones being charged, a second firearm was discovered in the vehicle’s glove compartment. Authorities are now investigating whether the weapon belongs to Jones. Rivera, who was injured during the exchange of gunfire, is currently recovering in the hospital and has not yet been charged in connection with the incident.
