Explosion at Austin-Area Construction Site Sends Three to Hospital with Serious Injuries

MANOR, Texas – First responders in the Austin area rushed to the scene of an explosion at a construction site on Tuesday afternoon. According to Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS), the incident took place around 1:15 p.m. in the 10400 block of North FM 973, near Braker Lane. Three ambulances were dispatched in response to a call concerning a “burn/explosion” at the construction site, related to a water tank.

Travis County STAR Flight airlifted one of the patients to Dell Seton Medical Center with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. Another patient sustained serious, but not life-threatening injuries, and the third patient is believed to have potentially serious, non life-threatening injuries. Additional support was provided by Manor ESD 12.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) reported that it is aware of the incident and is currently investigating. No further information is available at this time.
