Explosion at Fireworks Factory in Thailand’s Suphan Buri Province Leaves 18 Dead

BANGKOK, Thailand: A devastating explosion occurred at a fireworks factory in Thailand’s Suphan Buri province, resulting in multiple fatalities. Reports indicate that at least 20 individuals lost their lives in the tragic incident.

The initial death toll was reported at 20, according to an AFP report, but rescue workers later revised the toll to 18 people. The explosion, which took place near the Sala Khao township in central Suphan Buri province at approximately 3:00 pm local time, has left the community in shock.

Police colonel Theerapoj Rawangban confirmed the deaths and expressed concerns that the death toll may rise. However, he noted that the explosion did not cause significant damage to nearby houses or residents.

As of now, the cause of the explosion remains unknown. However, it is worth noting that such incidents are unfortunately common in Thailand, particularly at firecracker workshops and other pyrotechnic facilities. Last year, a similar tragedy occurred when 10 people died and over 100 were injured in a fireworks warehouse explosion in southern Narathiwat province.

This developing story has gripped the nation, and authorities are working diligently to investigate the cause of the explosion and provide support to the affected community. Our thoughts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims of this devastating event.
