Clinton Township, Michigan – A devastating explosion that occurred on Monday night in Clinton Township continues to pose a threat, with smoke rising from the site and occasional fires reigniting four days later. The aftermath of the explosion has left the area smoldering, with fire crews working diligently to keep the flames under control.
Clinton Township Fire Chief Tim Duncan reported that two main hot spots on the west side of the building are being closely monitored and treated with water. Over 2 million gallons of water have already been used in efforts to contain the fire. Structural steel beams cover the hot spots, making it challenging to completely extinguish the flames until the steel is removed.
The removal of the steel is pending the assembly of an investigative team. Fire Marshal Chuck Champagne mentioned that the team is currently being put together, with plans for the investigation to commence in the following week.
