Explosion Tragedy Strikes Kokkulam: Worker Killed, Houses Damaged, Investigation Underway

TENKASI, INDIA – A tragic incident unfolded in Kokkulam, Tenkasi district, claiming the life of a worker named Satishwaran in an explosion that destroyed a dwelling on Sunday. As the explosion damaged several houses nearby, Satishwaran’s wife, Ramalakshmi, sustained injuries and was promptly taken to the Government Hospital for treatment. Initial investigations revealed that Satishwaran was employed in a fireworks unit in Tiruthangal, near Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district. Additionally, he was involved in the manufacturing and sale of crackers from his home to residents in the surrounding areas. Authorities, including Sankarankoil DSP Sudhir, MLA Raja, RDO Kavita, and local police, visited the scene of the incident for further inquiry.

In another part of Tenkasi district, the Kadayanallur police made significant progress by arresting two individuals and recovering cash and gold jewelry following a complaint from Rabees Raja, who owns a jewelry shop in Kadayanallur. The suspects were identified as Annalakshmi (45) and Srinath (29) after Raja realized that the gold jewelry they had sold him was fake. The police diligently examined CCTV footage and tracked the suspects’ mobile phone numbers, ultimately locating them in Somiahpuram, Rajapalayam in Virudhunagar district. This successful operation led to the recovery of stolen items and their apprehension for further investigation.
