Zebulon, N.C. — A shooting incident Wednesday night has resulted in the death of a man, leading to murder charges against his father, according to local authorities.
Police responded to a 911 call reporting an assault at around 6:30 p.m. on Taramar Lane. Upon arrival, officers learned that the caller was the victim, who had suffered a gunshot wound and was experiencing severe bleeding.
While officers attempted to access the residence for further investigation, they encountered a German Shepherd that approached them in an aggressive manner, prompting them to fire at the dog.
First responders initiated life-saving measures as they awaited the arrival of emergency medical services; however, the victim, identified as 30-year-old Tristan Torry, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities took 59-year-old Andrew Torry into custody as part of the investigation. He is confirmed to be the victim’s father. The following morning, Andrew appeared before a magistrate, where he was charged with felony murder in connection with his son’s death. The arrest warrant accuses him of causing Tristan’s death unlawfully and with malice aforethought.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing, and police have not released additional details about what led to the altercation.
In a statement, the Zebulon Police Department expressed condolences to the family involved, emphasizing that any loss of life is a tragedy and urging the community to keep those affected in their thoughts and prayers.
