PITTSBURGH — A 35-year-old man was shot and killed in the Middle Hill neighborhood on Sunday evening, raising concerns about safety in the area. Authorities responded to a ShotSpotter alert around 6 p.m. on Webster Avenue, where they discovered the victim with multiple gunshot wounds lying in the street.
Emergency medical personnel transported the man to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner later identified him as Philip Griffin from McKees Rocks.
Surveillance footage from Ann’s Market, located at the intersection of Webster Avenue and Somers Street, captured the events leading up to the shooting. According to a clerk at the store, Griffin had been inside the market shortly before the incident, purchasing a snack and conversing on his phone.
The chilling footage shows Griffin walking down Webster Avenue when an unidentified assailant emerged from the shadows, turned, and fired at least four times before fleeing toward Somers Street. Law enforcement officials have secured the video and other evidence from the scene as part of their investigation.
As of Monday afternoon, no arrests had been made, leaving the community on edge and calling for answers. The police are actively pursuing leads, but details about potential suspects remain scarce.
