Fatal Shooting of Newly-Wed Man in Front of Wife by Armed Muggers in Karachi Leads to Outcry for Safety of Citizens and Business Owners

KARACHI, Pakistan – A newly-married man was tragically killed by armed muggers while enjoying a meal with his wife at a restaurant in Balochistan. The victim, Muhammad Adnan, had been married for only three months and was a resident of Naval Colony in Baldia Town. Sadly, the couple’s evening took a horrific turn when two robbers on a motorcycle approached them and demanded their valuables. When Adnan resisted, one of the assailants shot him twice in the head before fleeing with their mobile phones, cash, and other items. The victim’s body was transported to a local hospital, where his relatives, visibly outraged, opted against an autopsy and decided to check the body themselves.

In a separate incident, wedding photographers in North Nazimabad were robbed at gunpoint by two armed muggers riding a motorcycle. The muggers targeted the photographers as they were heading home after shooting a wedding at a local marriage hall. The stolen equipment, including a camera, drone camera, mobile phones, and cash, is estimated to be valued at around Rs1.6 million. The victims also reported being physically assaulted during the robbery.

This alarming trend of robberies targeting photographers has been occurring almost on a daily basis for several months, according to local reports. The victims recounted their harrowing experiences, describing how photographers are targeted at gunpoint regardless of whether they are on motorcycles or in cars. As a result, the photography community is living in fear as they continue to face the risk of robbery and violence in the course of their work.
